Ways to Make a Full-Time Income While Travelling

Introduction

Its hard to believe that there are easy or convenient ways to make a full time income while travelling. While we have been incredibly fortunate in our journey to becoming self-sufficent digital nomads, this adventure can be for you, too!

If you’re up for the challenge, there are some creative ways to make a full-time income while you travel so you can do what we’ve done and make your dreams a reality. Here are some of our favorites:

  1. Sell photos online
    • If you’re a talented photographer, there are a number of ways to sell your photos online and make money while you travel. For example, you can sign up to a stock photography website like iStock or Shutterstock, where you can earn royalties every time someone downloads one of your photos. Alternatively, you could create your own website or blog dedicated to your photography, and sell prints or digital downloads directly to your audience.
  2. Write an eBook
    • Writing an eBook is a great way to share your knowledge and expertise with the world, and earn money while you’re at it. If you’ve got an idea for a non-fiction book that would appeal to a wide audience, think about turning it into an eBook that you can sell online. Once it’s written, all you need to do is promote it and start making sales!
  3. Create an online course
    • Another great way to share your skills and expertise with others is by creating an online course. If you’ve got something valuable to teach others, this could be a great option for making money while travelling. Platforms like Udemy make it easy to create and market your course, and there’s potential to earn passive income if people keep taking it long after you’ve finished travelling!
  4. Work as a freelance writer
    • If writing is your thing, then consider working as a freelance writer. This is one of the most popular ways to make money online, and there are always opportunities for talented writers regardless of where in the world they happen to be. Whether you want to write articles for websites or magazines, or even create your own blog, there are plenty of writing gigs out there waiting for you!
  5. Do some web design
    • Web design is another great skillset to have if you want to work remotely while travelling. If you’re good with HTML, CSS and other web development technologies, then consider offering your services as a freelance web designer/developer. There are always businesses and individuals looking for someone to help them build or improve their website – so why not take advantage of that and earn some money while doing it?
  6. Start a Travel Blog
    • One of the best ways to make money while traveling is to start a travel blog. This involves documenting your travels and sharing your experiences and tips with others. You can create a blog for free using platforms such as WordPress or Blogger. Once you have built up a following, you can then start to monetize your blog through advertising, sponsored posts, or selling products and services.

If you are not interested in starting a blog or any of the other great examples we’ve listed above, there are still many other ways to make money while traveling. For example, you could work as a freelance consultant or social media influencer. You could also start a small business selling products or services that appeal to travelers. Whatever option you choose, be sure to research the market and get creative! See some of these extra examples below.

Offer Consultation Services

If you have a particular skill or area of expertise, you can offer your services as a consultant to businesses and individuals while you’re on the road. For example, you could be a marketing consultant, social media expert, financial advisor, web developer, or graphic designer. All you need is a laptop and an internet connection, and you can work from anywhere in the world.

To find clients, you could contact local businesses in your area and offer your services, or search for freelance projects online. Once you’ve built up a good client base, word of mouth will start to spread and you’ll get more work through referrals. You could also sign up to a platform like Upwork or Fiverr where businesses post projects they need help with and freelancers can bid for the work.

Another option is to start your own consultancy business. This will require more planning and effort upfront but could be more rewarding in the long term. You’ll need to build up a website and market your business before you start getting clients, but if successful, this could be a great way to make a fulltime income while travelling.

Be a Freelance Writer

One of the best ways to make money while travelling is to be a freelance writer. You can write for travel magazines, newspapers, blogs, and websites. If you’re good at it and can build up a strong portfolio of work, you could make a full-time income from freelancing.

To get started, you’ll need to create a strong writing portfolio. Start by writing guest blog posts for popular travel blogs and websites. Once you have some samples of your work, you can start pitching article ideas to editors. If you land some writing gigs, be sure to deliver high-quality articles that meet deadlines. If you can do this, you’ll be in high demand as a freelance writer and will be able to command higher rates for your writing services.

Be a Social Media Influencer

If you love having your photograph taken and are always sharing pictures and stories from your travels on social media, then you could make a living as a social media influencer. Platforms like Instagram and YouTube provide a perfect opportunity to turn your passion for travel into a fulltime job. All you need is a following of engaged fans who are interested in seeing where you go next and what you get up to while you’re there.

As a social media influencer, you can make money in a number of ways, including through sponsored posts, affiliate sales, and even by selling your own products and services. If you’ve got a large enough following, brands will be willing to pay top dollar for you to promote their products or services on your account. And if you’re savvy with your marketing, you can use your influence to sell products and services of your own, directly to your fans.

Sell Products Online

One of the most popular ways to make money while travelling is to sell products online. You can sell anything from clothes and accessories to art and handmade crafts. If you’re selling physical products, you’ll need to factor in the cost of shipping and handling, but if you’re selling digital products, there are no such costs.

To get started, set up a shop on a platform like Etsy or Shopify, or start your own website or blog. Even check out Amazon FBA, where Amazon fulfills product order for you. Then, promote your products through social media and other online channels. Once you start getting orders, fulfil them promptly and provide excellent customer service to encourage positive reviews and repeat business.

Rent out Your Property

If you own a house or an apartment, you could rent it out while you’re away. This is a great way to make some extra money, and it will help offset the cost of your travels. There are many websites that can help you find tenants, such as Airbnb and VRBO. Just be sure to screen your tenants carefully and make sure they are responsible and will take good care of your property.

Conclusion

While there are many ways to make a fulltime income while travelling, it is important to remember that not all of them are right for everyone. It is important to find the method that best suits your skillset and interests. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, so do some research and find the option that will work best for you. With a little bit of planning, you can make your dream of fulltime travel a reality.
